Alba Iulia City Race, September 21th - The idea of organizing a major athletic event in Alba Iulia to attract athletes and runners from all over the country belonged to Marius Anghel, former director of Unirea Alba Iulia Club, and its implementation took place naturally on March 15, 2014, with the first edition of Alba Iulia City Race, after the completion of works at the jewel of Alba Iulia, Alba Carolina Fortress. Now, all the competitors are ready to WALK WITH US, in the fifth edition of Alba Iulia City Race.
Our main goal is to attract as many people as possible to the race. In recent years, more and more people are also running in our country, proof of their numerous participation since the first edition of Alba Iulia City Race. Slowly, society is changing and the world is beginning to feel the need for a healthy lifestyle, and running is the sport that can be practiced by anyone, each at the level they want.
Our long-term challenge, however, is that every year, Alba Iulia becomes the capital of Romanian athletics through this competition, at least once a year.

“ Alba Iulia likes bikes” ( Alba Iulia pedaleaza) – on September 21th, an event as a bike contest, intended mainly for childrens aged 6-14 y.o., in order to help them to discover bike riding in an interactive and friendly way. The choosed place for the contest will be 1 Decembrie Bvd, closed for auto traffic on September 21th.
22 September
Turn a day into a week: between 16th and 22nd September, the whole week we’ll run The WEP ( Week Of Empty Parking) , with no cars allowed in the Alba Iulia Cityhall parking space.
Also, on September 21th one of the main boulevards of the city, The Horea Blvd. ( between Closcs St. and V Goldis St) will be close to the heavy auto traffic and turned into a opened exclusively to pedestrians and cyclists.
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
