Detailed description (English): I BIKE Dublin is a movement/campaign by people who want to support safe cycling in Dublin. Our main activities are direct actions to create awareness of cycling as a sustainable and sensible mode of transport.
We are joining two growing movements to make this plan work.
On 15 September we will have a parklet in Dublin's city centre as part of Park(ing) Day. Our plan is to engage with passersby about cycling and what would it take for them to start cycling regularly.
The information collected will be compiled and presented for 'troubleshooting' by teams of hackers over the following two days (16 and 17 September) as part of CycleHack. The output might be in the form of urban design ideas, technology to support cycling adoption, information collection/processing/distribution to support cycling uptake.
Target group(s): All citizens who cycle or might consider cycling more frequently and mobility users who benefit from better cycling infrastructure and conditions.
Objectives: Create awareness of issues deterring adoption of cycling and identify possible solutions that could be adopted by individuals, businesses and the city of Dublin.
Expected Outcomes: We expect the consultation phase to involve about 120 people and the workshop about 50. We are hoping for involvement by groups associated with development of smart city programmes, county council officers and a broad range of creative people.
