Detailed description (English): Founded in 2011, Dublin PARK(ing) Day is based on the international event of PARK(ing) Day. With the support of Dublin City Council, we are suspending parking in over 35 spaces throughout Dublin City and providing them free to individuals and organisations to provide for activities for the public. The importance of good quality public space is neccessary for the future well-being of ourselves and the urban landscape, and with the pressures on space in cities, it is time to take ownership away from the private car. The organisations involved range from creative businesses, health and fitness, public environment bodies and designers. Each will provide Dublin with a uniquely creative installation that will change the cultural mindset of who our streets belong to.
Target group(s): General Audience. Residents and visitors to Dublin City.
Objectives: To make a contribution to a cultural shift in the use of public space. To make a positive contribution to the streets and encourage a more enjoyable experience when using pedestrian infrastructure in the city.

Promote sustainable travel and a more pleasant environment within urban spaces. Media coverage both local and national. Possibility to link internationally through the shared PARK(ing) Day initiative.
