Detailed description (English): IFP (International Federation of Pedestrians) member StreetsForAll (www.mensenstraat.nl) started a campaign in the Netherlands to support walking policies and to sign the 'Charter for Walking'.
We made a Dutch language version that was presented at the first national walking conference in Rotterdam July 2017.
On Wednesday 13 September 2017, the two Brabant cities of Eindhoven and Tilburg were the first local governments in the Netherlands to commit themselves to the principles of the charter when their aldermen Mr Mario Jacobs and Ms Mary Ann Schreurs signed the charter.
The results are shown on the international Walk21 website: https://www.walk21.com/charter.
In the near future we expect more local governments starting in the Brabant province to sign the charter.
Target group(s): Pedestrians in the Netherlands.
Objectives: Finding support for inviting and safe streets for walking.
Expected Outcomes: Better physical and mental health, happiness.
Partner: Different NGOs in the Netherlands, e.g Fietsersbond, Rover.
