Detailed description (English): MDAT participates as partner in the Interreg MED project 'REgenerating mixed - use MED urban communities congested by traffic through Innovative low carbon mobility sOlutions', as known as 'REMEDIO'. The project aims at strengthening the capacity of cities to use low-carbon transport systems and include them in their mobility plans by testing existing mobility solutions, through an assessment tool and participatory governance schemes that result in an operational path replicable by other MED urban areas with different city sizes. It addresses the challenge of the high density areas surrounding the city centres with commercial and directional roads often suffering from traffic jam to the point of becoming wounds in the connectivity of the wide spread city and elements of additional economic crisis and even social exclusion. During the Remedio Closing Events the above-mentioned action will convert for one day two parking lots -that are on the Remedio study axis (the axis includes the avenues Ethn. Antistaseos-Vas. Olgas-Vas. George-Man. Andronikou str)- into park stations for the citizens.
In both stations (1 and 2) will be developed several activities taking into consideration three (3) parameters: a) Creating an environment of relaxation and recreation for citizens, b) Parallel participatory activities for children/adults, (c) Information about the purpose and the work of the REMEDIO program, ιnforming citizens about the benefits of walking and the option of other sustainable ways of transportation as a city-friendly and human-health-friendly way to travel in city centers
Target group(s): citizens, residents, policy makers, other relevant stakeholders
Objectives: Raise public awareness about the functions of urban transportation axes as public spaces and promotion of sustainable means of transportation
