Participation 2015

The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
Trrim-trrim Operation, Mobility Forum, Trips for Trash action, Photographic Marathon, Bike Trials, Bicycle Fair, Premiere of "Bikes vs Cars" movie, "Pedalling Cities" bicycle ride, Mobility Fest, Street animation
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
A 100 m long street, located at the very heart of the city of Almada, will be closed to traffic during the "Mobility Fest" that will take place on the 19th of September.
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Permanent measures implemented this year:
New or improved bicycle facilities
  • Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
  • Other: Launching of the "Campaign 2+2", which will allow for bicycle users to take their bikes on several public transports, such as the tram, train, ferry and elevator.
Public transport services
  • Improvement and extension of the public transport services (express services, increase frequency etc)
  • Other: Introduction of the new "Health Circuit", a public transport service which will connect public transport interfaces with several hospitals and other health centres.
Mobility management
  • Adoption of school travel plans
  • Other: Implementation of studies and inquiries with the aim of defining the best and safest school travel itineraries for students.
