Dingli organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2019, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
We will be closing two central village core areas. These will be in Misrah Frenc Abela in front of Ghaqda Muzikali Santa Marija and in Parish Street in front of Dingli Swallows FC. The areas will be closed daily from 19:30 till 23:00 to encourage pedestrianization, promotion of the road space as a shared space, use of non-car modes and open spaces. We will be organising a treasure hunt for kids under the age of 18. Items will be hidden around the locality as well as other challenges will be organised. The idea is to promote safe walking and safe cycling as an alternative especially for short destinations within the village in order to reduce traffic within the village and reduce pollution, increasing open spaces within the locality. The event is organised by Kumitat Festa Esterna obo. the Dingli Parish church. Various groups within the Parish church will be involved together with the boys and girls MUSEUM.
21 September

We will be organizing an activity at the football ground where kids and teenagers will be making the shape of a bicycle to promote the use of bicycles in the locality like the image below. The kids and teenagers will then be going for the #SMARTFEET Pedometer challenge (details below). The event will also be open for adults who wish to join in. The event is to be organised by the Dingli Swallows FCYN, Dingli Scouts and Kumitat Festa Esterna.

Car-free day Car-free day

Dingli carries out a Car-Free Day 2019 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Several roads will be closed to encourage pedestrianization, promotion of the road space as a shared space, use of non-car modes and open spaces. The area around the football ground in Housing Estate III, a hub of activity will only be accessible on foot, by bike or with Segway. It will consist of a 6-hour day closure. The event will be coordinated by the Dingli Swallows Football Club Youth Nursery.

During the car free day there will be free trial of Segway and ebikes for residents in the closed roads. A Segway leader will be present to guide the good use of such means of transport. Also sport activities in the street will be held for children.
