The Healthy for Life 5k fun run / walk is a family-friendly event that encourages people of all ages to go out and move for the good of both body and soul. This race will be held in the middle of the week of activities without heavy vehicles and with driving restrictions. This should make the air cleaner and less dangerous on the roads. The departure will be carried out under the instructions of the superintendent of health, taking all the necessary precautions. In order to reduce contact between participants, the participants will start with a few mins apart one from another.

Electrification of transport has gained significant momentum in recent years, with policy makers playing a crucial role in state efforts to transform the transport sector. The transport sector is also the main source of gas emissions accounting for a high percentage in the Maltese islands. Although motivations among state policymakers vary, many are still afraid to acquire an electric vehicle. The council is taking this initiative and holding a demonstration to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), including plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Monday 20th- Road humps Bishop N G Cauchi (Survey)

As traffic is increasing in our islands, the Council is trying to introduce pedestrian squares for people. For this reason it is necessary to take certain actions such as the installation of a sleeping policeman in order to reduce excessive driving from the locality centre. One of the actions to be taken by the Council is a survey amongst residents in regards the installation of a sleeping policeman near the locality centre. The sleeping policeman will be placed temporarily for the survey purpose and residents will be asked if they agree or not with its permanent installation. The result obtained from this survey will be forwarded to transport Malta for further consideration should the majority of the residents opt to have it permanent.

Wednesday 22nd - Sketch and painting in the square followed by a safety cycle for children From Gharb Square to San Dimitri and a picnic under the tents.

Art is a means of expressing thoughts and desires. Whether it’s color, acrylic or watercolor paints, we make fun crafts or just leave our art materials, we love to create masterpieces. With this workshop the children will be given the locality square so that they can celebrate the color and show off their creations with drawings and designs that they want while also being guided by an art teacher. For this activity, children will be invited to come by bike and at the end of the activity in the square, they will be riding their bikes to San Dimitri accompanied by the guards so that they can be protected by other road users

The result of this art will be turned into a creative calendar for the year 2022 which will convey the message of the children and the chosen subject this year Move Sustainable. Stay Healthy.

- Every day between 16 and 22 September the council gives a refund for bus tickets at twice the price to those registered residents who newly register for the tallinja card. This measure is aimed at encouraging the use of the bus especially by those who have never used public transport.

- 16-22 No heavy vehicles on the road. The idea of this initiative is to make the location free for a week from large vehicles. This would mean that the locality would be free of construction machinery and therefore fewer emissions of fumes, noise, and dust into the air. If the application is approved the council will notify the government gazzette as well as make boards by fifteen weeks at the entrances of the locality so that the contractors are informed about this initiative. This initiative will also be broadcasted on social media in order to inform the general public.
