16th – 22nd: Online Awareness Campaign
We will be conducting an online awareness campaign on social media. This would run throughout the entire length of the mobility week (16-22 September) and can continue further during the European Week of Sports (23-29 September). It involves posting at least one item per day on the central theme of the European Mobility Week ‘Safe and Healthy with Sustainable Mobility’ and the other sub-themes being ‘Environment and energy’, ‘Sustainable urban planning’ and ‘Sustainable transport’.
The awareness campaign conducted by Dingli Swallows FC and Youth Nursery will be done using different forms of media including posters, videos, interviews etc. with the possible participation of players, technical staff, professional people and other athletes. Cross-promotion of the online awareness campaign from other organisations is envisaged. Content will vary from information, useful tips and personal experiences.
The benefits of opting for an online campaign would be the following:
• During this uncertain time with Covid-19, there would not be any risk of postponing the event as it does not involve outdoor or mass activities.
• Rather than opting for a one-day event (like an information session), this would span over an entire week.
• Increased reach as people would not need to be present in the given place and time but can access the content at a convenient time.

16th – 22nd: Site Area Survey
We will be conducting a survey with local residents, businesses, members of local NGOs and children of the San Nikola Primary School in Had-Dingli. This year’s survey will be distributed to all local households. It will address the local council proposal for the implementation of slow streets project and possibly other road directional signs in the centre in the locality of Had-Dingli. In the survey, we will discover the present use of transportation that families use in the said area and seek their views and proposals for alternative modes of transport once the slow streets project will be implemented.
The idea is to gather information on the mode of transport used by families in the centre of the locality of Had-Dingli, to promote more healthier sustainable mobility when applying safe walking and safe cycling as an alternative especially for short destinations within the village to reduce traffic in peak hours, to reduce air and noise pollution and to increase open spaces within the locality. With this survey, the local council will be in a better position to analyse better the slow street project with the main intention to promote environmentally-friendly transportation measures. The event is steered by the Dingli Swallows FCYN with the participation of Dingli Scouts and Kumitat Festa Esterna.

Street ball challenge

There will be a free trial of Segway and e-bikes for children and residents. A Segway leader will be present to guide the excellent use of such means of transport. The event will promote safe & healthy sustainable mobility, zero-emission mobility for all, pedestrianisation, promotion of the road space as a shared space for safe walking and safe cycling and sustainable transport with the use of non-car modes.

Bike/Cycle lessons & Ride
We will be organising a bike/cycle lesson followed by a 5km bike ride activity around Had-Dingli and its surroundings. In the periphery of the village next to Maddalena chapel, the kids and teenagers will assemble the shape of a bicycle (image below) to promote the use of bicycles in the locality. The event will also be open for adults who wish to join in. As part of this year’s edition, the local council will install another bike rack to be used by students and locals who travel by bike. The event is to be organised by the Dingli Scouts and Oratorju Salesjani Dingli and the participation of Dingli Swallows FCYN and Kumitat Festa Esterna. The event will promote safe & healthy sustainable mobility for all, zero-emission mobility, use of the road space as a shared space for safe walking and safe cycling and sustainable transport with the use of non-car modes.

Air Bag ramp. This event will be performed with the help of Regjun Tramuntana. This ramp (image below) was purchased as part of the Regjun Tramuntana commitment to help the community, particularly the younger generation. Regjun Tramuntana has purchased a practising Air Bag for BMX, Skateboarding, Scooter, Inline Skate and any other extreme sport. This Specialised air-filled ramp is used for practice sessions, permitting users to be more experimentative and daring but in a safe way, knowing that if they fall, they land on softer ground.

Street Sports
In the late afternoon, next to the football ground in the car park in front of the Dingli Swallows football ground, will be held a sport activity promoting healthy mobility other than the alternative use by cars. The event will promote safe and healthy sustainable mobility for all, zero-emission, pedestrianisation, promotion of the road space as a shared space for safe sports and sustainable transport with the use of non-car modes. This event will be in collaboration with Dingli Swallows FC Youth Nursery and Dingli Swallows FC.
