Activities within the week Activities within the week

Bridgend organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2006, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
During European Mobility Week, staff volunteers who currently travel to work by car will be asked to use other modes such as walking, cycling, public transport or car share for the journey to work. They will all be given Personal Journey Plans prepared by Modus and will be required to keep a diary to record their experiences. This programme has been designated the "Alternative Travel Diary (ATD)."

The ATD will culminate in a "Commuter Challenge" on 22nd September when volunteers including Conucillors will travel from one focal point in Brackla, a housing estate on the outskirts of Bridgend, to the Civic Office in the town centre during the morning peak period. The purpose of this challenge is to determine how long it takes each mode of transport to make the same journey.

Permanent measures Permanent measures

Bridgend implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
