Manchester organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2006, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Providing an exhibition detailing various emission levels from a variety of vehicles. Inviting the public to measure their own carbon eco-footprint via an interactive big screen. Two groups of schoolchildren will create eco feet and then demonstrate a walking bus.

Car-free day Car-free day

Manchester carries out a Car-Free Day 2006 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

At the heart of central Manchester: St Mary's Gate, Cross Street and Corporation Street closed between 11am and 3pm
