Activities within the week Activities within the week

Vilnius organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2007, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
1. "Mobility week" (16-22 September)
1.1. The transportation inspection of exhaust gas level in Vilnius city;
It is meant to check the level of exhaust gas concentration. The Ecology and Offence prevention division of Public order office and the Vilnius city agency division of Vilnius region environment protection department will survey the exhaust gas level in the most problematic places.

1.2. Preventive safe traffic action " Safe streets for people";
Traffic observation office will organise preventive safe traffic means near by the various education institutions, i.e. how people keep the rules of the road, do they fasten their children on the way to school, do they use special seats, adjusted to person's hight and weight.

1.3. "To school on bike";
Vilnius Healthy City Bureau will promote the schoolchildren and other citizens to take bicycles or public transport on their way to school or job. During this action students will survey the number of schoolchildren that come to their schools on bicycles.

1.4. Campaign "Passangers and public transport";
Public transportation public company "Susisiekimo paslaugos" will organise the following actions:
- the capacity of people in one square meter;
- the drag of autobus;
- the blocking of automobile thruster;
- relay-race "Catch the rabbit";
- relay-race "Ticket marking".

2. International European day "In town without my car" (22nd September)
2.1. Community feast in the Municipality square
During the feats there will be figurative cycling contest, race, little ones cycling contest, the contest of safe traffic in street, childen and youth drawing contest.

Car-free day Car-free day

Vilnius carries out a Car-Free Day 2007 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Municipality square and Gediminas avennue - the central street of Vilnius city, where different actions will take place.
