Arad organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2007, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
- round table on topic "Streets for people", with representatives of the Agency for Environment Protection Arad, Arad City Hall, Arad Police, Directorate for Education, Public Health Directorate, mass-media, schools and kindergartens, NGOs;
- information and education campaigns in schools, related to the effects of pollution on the environment,the necessity to have a cleaner city with cleaner streets and more green areas;
- study visits at the most polluted sites in Arad (e.g. major road junctions);
- technical measurements of the level of pollutants and specialty explanations;
- ecological education on sites;
- distribution of information materials, fliers, etc. to raise the awareness of preserving the environment healthy;
- press conference;
- sport competitions for school children (bicycles, skateboards, rollers) in order to develop and encourage the use of the alternative means of transport;
- stop the car access on a major road of the city.

Car-free day Car-free day

Arad carries out a Car-Free Day 2007 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The residential street I.C.Bratianu will be closed on 21st September 2007.
- it is located right in the city center with direct access to the main boulevard of the city (where complex rehabilitation works are being undertaken at this moment, within the above mentioned project);
- it collects the traffic from four streets;
- it is a combined residential, offices and shopping street,two ways,2+1 lanes on each way;
- busy traffic, street with important impact on the city traffic.
