London Borough of Islington carries out a Car-Free Day 2007 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Whitecross Street and Banner Street in EC1 will both be closed to cars for a food festival and car free celebration.
