Car-free day Car-free day

Nottingham carries out a Car-Free Day 2007 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Nottingham City centre is already for the most part a Clear Zone, closed to car traffic, where only trams, buses, city council taxis, walking and cycling are allowed. The Hockley scheme permanent measure of redistributing the road space to pedestrians and cyclists includes a road closure that is to become permanent, and the scheme is launched on 22 September.
