Car-free day
Swindon carries out a Car-Free Day 2007 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The zone restricted to the private car on 22nd September 2007 is Goddard Avenue in the Old Town area of Swindon. The surrounding area consists of residential land use and the avenue itself, is a fairly heavily used two-way highway which is also currently used as a twice hourly bus service route.
