Car-free day Car-free day

Bjelovar carries out a Car-Free Day 2007 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
City of Bjelovar now has very limited zone restricted to the private car- it is one street in the city centre that has only been pedestrian zone for several decades. It is a place where people can enjoy and relax under the chesnut trees while taking an afternoon walk. It is also a zone restricted to bicycles and that makes this zone not so popular among bicycle users. That is why local authorities will turn this zone into bicycle- pedestrian zone and that way enable more people to use this area.
