Activities within the week Activities within the week

Ramnicu Valcea organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2008, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
The European Mobility Week will be marked in Ramnicu Valcea by a various events, including a press conference, press releases, banners, info points and a series of events.

During the week, based on a Cooperation Protocol established with the County Schools Administration and the Environmental Agency, 3 info points will be placed in the crowded areas of the town in order to inform the citizens about the European Mobility Week.

On September 21 (the day we choose for 'In Town Without My Car!'), the main street of the town - Calea lui Traian - will be partial close to car traffic for 4 hours (between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.) and in this segment we will organize o series of events with the participation of local schools and young people from the city, events consist in street picture contest, concerts, rollers demonstrations and others activities.

Also, in the same day, in order to encourage the use of public transportation, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. the local transportation buses will run for free for every passenger.

Ramnicu Valcea carries out a Car-Free Day 2008 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Calea lui Traian is the main and the longest street of Ramnicu Valcea, crossing town from South to North.
The area restricted for private cars on September 21, for 4 hours, is app. 1 km long and is situated in the central area of the town.
