Car-free day Car-free day

Wareham (Purbeck) carries out a Car-Free Day 2008 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The two streets to be closed are: Abbots Quay; runs parallel to the river, is mainly residential with the open river on one side. (45metres in length) Trinity Street (only about 25% of this will be closed)is a narrow street, varying in width with some retail element; only a part of this street will be closed as it flows into Pound Lane, which is not closed. Pound Lane with the other part of Trinity Street. going off at an angle, will be still open to Motor Traffic. Tanners Lane as it meets both Abbots Quay and Trinity Street from each end, it will be effectively almost blocked off - available only for residents access.
