Participation 2008

The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
We will be undertaking the organisation of a number of events which promote sustainable transport, predominantly cycling and walking, which reduce the need for car use and will in turn improve transport related air pollution and the sustainable modes promote healthier living.
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Castle Square will be used as a focal pedestrianised point for the ITWMC climax to European Mobility Week, where those who have undertaken challenges in the week will be rewarded for their efforts.
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
