Car-free day Car-free day

London Borough of Islington carries out a Car-Free Day 2008 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
A busy street next to a major A road with very busy public transport links all around. There is a crowded market and shopping centre as well as two major supermarkets in the close vicinity which makes the conflict between pedestrians, cars, cyclists and other road users a daily occurrence.
