Ploiesti organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2008, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
The European Mobility Week (16-22 September), is a great opportunity for actions to increase people awareness regarding the means of alternative transport and their favorable impact on the environment.
Program of activities undertaken during the European Mobility Week 2008 by the Ploiesti municipality:
16 September
- survey at informational level concerning the mobility week, climacteric and opinion exchanges concerning the closing of private cars traffic on 20 September, between 9-15 o’clock
- printing informative – educative materials (brochures, posters) and posting them on the public transportation means
17-18 September
- Photographic Exibition: CiViTAS II-SUCCESS project
19-20 September
- measurements of air quality and urban acoustic level, on Independence Boulevard – on a day with intense traffic - 19.09.2008 and on a day without traffic - 20.09.2008
- “Riding a bike on the old boulevard” – 20 September, velo-parade
Guests: cycling groups, cyclists association, pupils, students, pensioners.
22 September
- Seminar: “Clean air for all” organized at the Ploiesti City Hall that will debate the clean transport measures implemented through the european projects CiViTAS II-SUCCESS and SPICYCLES.
Participants: Environmental Protection Agency of Prahova County, RATP, Cyclism County Association of Prahova County, pupils from municipal schools.

Car-free day Car-free day

Ploiesti carries out a Car-Free Day 2008 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
On the 20 September, the old Chestnut Boulevard of our city will be shut down for the motorized vehicles in order to make measurement of the air pollution in a day without traffic comparing with a day with traffic. Also there will be organized a march of the bicycles fleet created in the framework of SPICYCLES project. The bicycles fleet gathered public servants, students from both high school and university, retired people and other citizens. On that day through media releases there will be invited on the boulevard all the people that want to promote a healthier lifestyle and a clean environment.
