Adopting the concept of “urban mobility” for the development of urban politics, represents a challenge, both for the local authority, as well as for the citizens.

European Mobility Week represents an opportunity for the initiation of a wide area of activities, being at the same time a blackboard for the local authorities, as well as for organizations and associations, in order to:
- Promote the existing politics, the initiatives and examples of good practice related to a sustainable urban mobility;
- Raise awareness among citizens, concerning the negative impact of the present means of urban mobility on the environment and on life quality;

Under the aegis of 2009 motto,” Improving city climates”, Ploiesti Municipality will organize the following activities:

- Bikes’ parade - on 22nd of September 2009, location: Independentei Bvd., 10:00am;

- “Walking, the source of health and vitality, discovering at the same time the beauties of nature” - bike race (slalom, artistic mastery) addressed to students, on 22nd of September 2009, location: Independentei Bvd., 10:00am., Bank Post area;

- Seminar debating the theme “Climate change - a global issue”, with the representatives from Ploiesti Municipality, Oil & Gas University, Office of Environmental Protection - R.A.S.P. and students of the Debate Club within “Mihai Viteazul” National College, experts within the “Agency of Energetic Efficiency” Ploiesti and students from the ecological school clubs in Ploiesti - 22nd of September 2009, 12:30pm., location “200 seats Hall” of Administrative Palace;

- Monitoring of the acoustic urban level during the days with and without car traffic, on Independentei Bvd. (measure accomplished with the sound meter within the instrumentation of Environmental Protection Office - R.A.S.P. Ploiesti) - during 22nd – 23rd of September 2009, between 10:00am. to 12:00 pm. ;

- Monitoring of air quality during the days with and without car traffic, on Independentei Bvd. (measure accomplished with the mobile laboratory within the Environmental Protection Agency of Prahova County)- between 22nd – 23rd of September 2009, between 10:00am. – 12:00pm. ;


Posting informative and educative materials on:
- Ploiesti Municipality site and R.A.S.P;
- Printing of 500 brochures;
- Press release about the results of the monitoring actions of urban acoustic level of air quality.
