Torino (Turin) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2009, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
On the occasion of the European Mobility Week 2009, the City of Torino has organized a rich programme of activities and events that will develop through the entire period:
- cyclist guided tours in order to let citizens discover the network of bicyle paths of the City and the routes in the City parks;
- movie projections about environmental themes;
- travelling theatre shows;
- exhibitions, labs, animation for children, music;
- exhibition stands;
- spaces for citizens to let them express their opinions;
- presentation of new projects of the City of Torino that will favour a more sustainable mobility;
- guided tours to the Environment Museum A come Ambiente , the only European Museum completely dedicated to environmental themes.

New or improved bicycle facilities

Car-free day Car-free day

Torino (Turin) carries out a Car-Free Day 2009 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Via Roma, one of the main streets of the centre of Torino, will be restricted to private car from 6 a.m. to 22 p.m. on the 22nd of September.

Via Roma is the conjunction between Piazza Castello, the very centre of the City, and Porta Nuova Station. In the middle of Via Roma, you can find famous Piazza San Carlo, recently turned into a pedestrian area.

Games, exhibitions and information activities addressed to all the citizens will be held in via Roma all the day long.
