Pula organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2009, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
16.09.inauguration of the European Mobility Week-Lecture for school and pre-school age children; given by employees of the public institution Natura Histrica *,Photo prize competition “No Cars in Lenses” (all citizens are invited to take photos of various motives of the life in the town, but with no cars as background). The most successful photos will be exhibited in the City Library and Reading Room*,Thematic radio broadcasts dealing with achieving better climate in towns, during which public transportation tickets will be given*,Transport of old cars and bulky waste in co-operation with Metis, company in charge of waste treatment*,Yoga in daily life – gratis exercises with a professional coach*(Note: items marked with * are to be continued the whole week)
17.09.Lecture delivered by the members of the Hiking Club Glas Istre -The theme of the lecture is Mountaneering and Markation of mountain tracks
18.09.Thematic TV broadcast /Planting trees - Thematic TV broadcast aiming at making known the activities to the citizens, during which public transportation tickets will be given,Planting trees aiming at improving the climate in the town (improving air quality, reducing noise etc.)
19.09.Bicycle/tricycle race for children,Fair of used bicycles, roller skates and skate boards,Measurement of blood pressure and glucose in the blood - Parents and children will learn the value of movement and creating the habit of using the bicycle in the town,Within the above Fair it is planned to exchange, sell and give as gift used bicycles, skate boards and roller skates as well as repair of small defects,The City of Pula will, in co-operation with the Association of Persons Affected by Diabetics, measure the blood pressure and glucose in blood to the citizens, free of charge
20.09.Walks organised by KRUPP (Club of recreation in the nature),Organised exercises on city beach Valkane guided by town sports centres,Measurement of blood pressure and glucose in the blood - The walks will be organised on Koza trail, in the length of 6.5 km, afterwards blood pressure and glucose in blood will be measured to the participants,Day-long programme of physical exercises (body technique, zumba dance, aero kick, S dance, body balance, salsa school, yoga) at town beach Valkane, held by owners and employees of towns sports centres, free of charge
21.09.Lecture Feng Shui,Performance for pre-school age children,Construction/adaptation of pedestrian crossing to disabled persons - Lecture on the theme Feng Shui how to move through life at the Chamber of Economy in Pula, delivered by the Centre of Creative Life “Zvončica” of Zagreb ,Eco-performance “Adventures of Vrećko and Smećko” will take place at kinder gardens, the theme is selective collection, separation and recycling of waste, In order to enable disabled persons to move more easily in the town one more pedestrian crossing has been constructed/adapted
22.09.“In town without my car!”, Creative expression of pre-school age children in the main town square,Awarding prizes of the photo competition,“Photo punkt” - putting up an installation in the park as place of relax and taking photos for citizens and tourists - Pre-school age children will draw with art chalk to the theme of mobility, educative prizes are planned for all small participants,On the basis of the opinion of the jury the three best photos will be awarded prizes (bicycle, photo equipment, free public transportation), The other works will be exhibited at the Town Library and Reading Room, All activities taken during the whole week are aimed at the need to create better climate in the town, namely raising the conciousness about natural ways of mobility and use of public transportation, and it has been tried to influence the citizens that the «In Town without my car » day they do not come downtown by car, on their own initiative.

Car-free day Car-free day

Pula carries out a Car-Free Day 2009 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The centre of the town is closed to traffic and has pedestrian areas.
