Bistrita organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.

Bike tour on the route: Liviu Rebreanu pedestrian area –Piata Centrala –Gheorghe Sincai Street –Garii street –Decebal Boulevard – Andrei Muresanu Street –Nasaudului Street –General Grigore Balan Street –Bistricioarei Street- Dornei Street –Piata Centrala –Liviu Rebreanu pedestrian area.

"Healthy way of life"- outdoor games, pavement drawing, jumping rope, roller skates, bicycles on restricted area for traffic, adapted to the theme "Alternative Mobility"

Allegorical works exhibition with the theme "Alternative Mobility, on the pedestrian area

Competition "Senior cyclists" - will be awarded the three riders older than 60 years,

Improvement of infrastructure (new foot bridges, pavements, road crossings, zebra crossings etc)

Improvement and extension of the public transport network (creation of HOV lanes for public transport modes, new stops, new lines, reserved areas etc)
Unlimited free transportation on public transport for people with reduced mobility

Installation of traffic lights at pedestrian crossings near 3 schools with a call button for green colour

Local council decision on different taxes and fees according to the rules of pollution for the access of goods vehicles in Bistrita (Until now only access fee based on tonnage)

Car-free day Car-free day

Bistrita carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The restricted area for traffic includes Dornei Street, Piata Centrala, Gheorghe Sincai Street untill Mihai Eminescu Street and Dogarilor Street.

This area is an intensively circulated area in Bistrita.

The total length of the strrets where the road traffic is suspended during the 22nd of September is of 1600 m.
