Arezzo organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.

The Municipality of Arezzo, in line with the strategic objectives of the PUM (Urban Mobility Plan), is implementing a series of actions and adopting measures aimed to creating a new urban mobility system integrated and sustainable, including through promoting the use of transport modes alternative to private cars and integrated with it, as well as more respectful of the environment and health. The criteria are intermodality (and thus the possibility for citizens to get around town using in a complementary way both private and public mode transport), and the protection of the environment and health (and consequently the quality of the city and of life of people living there).

Car-free day Car-free day

Arezzo carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Sunday 18th of September, from 16:00 to 20:00, will be completely closed to traffic the lower part of the old town ("Assi Ottocenteschi") to allow the carrying out of planned initiatives and to give citizens the opportunity to move freely in the city center by foot or bike, without the presence of cars.
