Bologna organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
With the slogan “Bologna si muove – Muoviti con Bologna!” (Bologna is moving – Let's move with Bologna), the city of Bologna will join the European Mobility Week 2011.
From the 16th to the 22nd of September a very large amount of events and initiatives will be proposed to citizens with the aim to inform them on urban mobility's services and opportunities and raise awareness on sustainable mobility. People will have the opportunity to receive information, try and experience innovative and alternative means of transport, such us electric ones.

Bologna implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

Car-free day Car-free day

Bologna carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
For the first time, during all the week-end the whole “Area T” (covering the three central main streets of the city centre) will be open only to pedestrian and cycling access: motorized vehicles (i.e. cars, motorbikes and even public transport vehicles) will not be allowed to enter the area, letting people to experience a new way to live the city centre. The city centre will be peacefully invaded by pedestrians, cyclists and many initiatives promoting sustainable and environmental friendlier behaviors.
