Activities within the week
Bar organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.
Organizing the «In Town Without My Car!» on September 22nd and promotion of the National day of Ecological State (20 anniversary/20 yeras of promulgation by National Law/Constitution Montenegro as Ecological State) we plan to promote sustainable transport/alternative mobility through the planned actions by involving local institutions to take part at the event.
The central street of the city will be closed for traffic all day on September 22nd, and all planned activities will be organized along that street and at the central square. These activities are aimed at promotion of alternative mobility: walking and cycling and as well there will be presentations related to alternative systems of transportation and energy efficiency.
Children are an important audience for energy saving and it is necessary to raise their awareness on how to save energy and protect the envoronment. Lessons learnt outside the school are very important way of promotion of Alternative Mobility in the cities.
All primary schools from Bar will participate in the planned activities and two competitions for school children will be organized:
- Competition in bicycle riding skills (training ground for the competition will be set at 10 am), for children from 5th and 6th grade
- Chalk drawing competition along the main street on theme "My Town on Bicycle" for children from 3th and 4th grade.
Being the National Coordinator of the EMW campaign, we expect very good media coverage of all activities, espesially those organized on September 22nd (TV, radio stations, press and web media including the Municipal web site).
As one of the permanent meausures we plan to take decision of setting aside one street that will be reserved solely for pedestrians and cyclists for the period of summer(tourism) season.
