Barcelos carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Encerramento da Avenida da Liberdade no dia 17 de Setembro (500 m);
A ZSTA tem aproximadamente 100 estabelecimentos comerciais e residem nesta zona cerca de 200 habitantes.
