Activities within the week Activities within the week

London Borough of Southwark organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2012, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Southwark Council are organising and supporting a number of events throughout the borough encouraging local residents to be more involved in mobility issues and looking to possibly develop Sustainable Urban Mobility plans. Our first event is w/c 15th September where the Council have been awarded funds from the Community Streets programme to Liverpool Grove with the aim of empowering local people to actively engage with the design and management of their street. We have a 'Make my Street' event and will close the road to reclaim Liverpool Grove to allow fun interactive activities and consultation to take place. We are hoping to engage new students at our nearby university during Fresher's days by operating a sustainable mobility advice stall over the 2 days. We will have information on mobility plans and will gauge interest is setting up regular groups to discuss these plans. ITWMY events are the Bermondsey Street festival which will have a sustainable transport theme, the road will be closed to motor traffic for the whole day. We are also running a local Health and Wellbeing event on a housing estate where active travel will be heavily promoted.
