Taipei organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2012, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
The themes of Taipei International Car free day are public rental bike and humanistic transport. The slogan is “ It’s not my Tan(It sounds like carbon in Chinese)”which reflects the slogan for 2012 European Mobility Week. We plan a series of activities to promote car free day and encourage people using public transport and green mode. In practice , we have implemented many strategies related to sustainable and humanistic transport include popularizing low-floor buses, promoting low-pollution public transportation vehicles, expanding the coverage of public rental bike system, providing more comfortable pedestrian environment, expanding bicycle lanes, provision of bike parking facilities in the city and so on.

Car-free day Car-free day

Taipei carries out a Car-Free Day 2012 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The Xinyi Commercial District where is one of most bustling and busiest area in Taipei will have road closure on September 22 this year. The closed area is about 19260 meter squared where will open for bicycles and pedestrian use only.
