Activities within the week
Thessaloniki organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2012, taking into account the annual theme.
The mobility week will be officially announced at a Press Conference by the mayor and will be promoted by the municipal radio and TV.
Applying a rotating traffic restriction plan, four regional streets of the city will become temporary pedestrian streets during the week, while on Saturday 22 the center of the city will be restricted for private cars for 11 hours.

Thessaloniki implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

Car-free day
Thessaloniki carries out a Car-Free Day 2012 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
A rotating plan of traffic restrictions will be implemented on the 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd of September. For the first three days, four regional centers per day will close one street of commercial and social importance each, to all traffic for several hours. On the 22nd, the whole center of the city (720.000 sq. meters, 180 acres) will close for private cars for 11 hours.
