Aberdeen City organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2013, taking into account the annual theme.

Clean Air is a major issue in Aberdeen with most of the city and some surrounding towns failing air quality targets. Aberdeen City is a partner in CARE North carbon reduction programme. The Health and Transport Action Plan works at 3 levels including air quality. The Getabout partnership promotes Active Travel, Car Share and Public Transport use to reduce the number of vehicles in Aberdeen.

Car-free day Car-free day

Aberdeen City carries out a Car-Free Day 2013 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
There will be 2 road closure areas during EMW
15/07/13 Cycling Scotland will close the entire beach boulevard (approx 2km) for a mass cycle event
22/07/13 Schoolhill area of Aberdeen City will be closed for the whole day for the car free day, public transport promotion, car club promotion,
