Participation 2013

The participant is committed to:

Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
From the 16th to the 22nd of September a very large amount of events and initiatives will be proposed to citizens with the aim to inform them on urban mobility's services and opportunities and raise awareness on sustainable mobility. People will have the opportunity to receive information, try and experience innovative and alternative means of transport, such us electric ones.
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, September
During the week-end the whole “T Area” (covering the three central main streets of the city centre) will be open only to pedestrian and cycling access: motorized vehicles (i.e. cars, motorbikes and even public transport vehicles) will not be allowed to enter the area, letting people to experience a new way to live the city centre. The city centre will be peacefully invaded by pedestrians, cyclists and many initiatives promoting sustainable and environmental friendlier behaviors.
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Permanent measures implemented this year:
New or improved bicycle facilities
  • Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
  • Develop public bicycle hiring and sharing systems
  • Create or enlarge pedestrian streets
Traffic calming and access control scheme
  • Other: During teh european mobility week goes on the campaign called
New forms of vehicle use and ownership
  • Use of clean vehicles
Mobility management
  • Adoption of workplace travel plans
  • Development of travel plans / mobility plans in consultation with local stakeholders
  • Provision of incentives and bonuses to employers
