Limerick City and County Council (Limerick) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2014, taking into account the annual theme.

On the run up to mobility week Limerick Smarter Travel will coordinate a multi media campaign using social media to promote and encourage a modal shift in commuting trends in Limerick by using outcomes and imagery gathered in the '20 Weeks of Change' and 'Green Schools' programme.

Limerick City and County Council (Limerick) implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

Car-free day Car-free day

Limerick City and County Council (Limerick) carries out a Car-Free Day 2014 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Limerick City of Culture will achieve a climactic cultural high when its headline event of the year Royal de Luxe presents ‘The Giant’s Journey’ for three whole days and nights on the 5th, 6th & 7th SEPTEMBER 2014. Over the three days of the event very significant areas of the city centre will be subject to Road Closures, Traffic and Parking Restrictions. Much of the city will become pedestrianised so that spectators can enjoy this family friendly free event.
