Akureyri organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2014, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
During the week inhabitants of Akureyri are encouraged to travel by foot, bike or public transportation.
In connection with Parking Day, a few parking spots in the city centre will be covered with grass and a bench and flowers placed on it. This "park" will excist the whole week. Also the city's centre will be closed for traffic for most of the week and activities will be organized on the streets.
Organized bike trips will take place.
Travel survey will be made in the town's elementary schools and the results compared to last two years.

Car-free day Car-free day

Akureyri carries out a Car-Free Day 2014 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The town's centre will be closed to traffic during some parts of the week.
