Permanent measures Permanent measures

Almada implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
Launching of the "Campaign 2+2", which will allow for bicycle users to take their bikes on several public transports, such as the tram, train, ferry and elevator.
Public transport services
Improvement and extension of the public transport services (express services, increase frequency etc)
Introduction of the new "Health Circuit", a public transport service which will connect public transport interfaces with several hospitals and other health centres.
Mobility management
Adoption of school travel plans
Implementation of studies and inquiries with the aim of defining the best and safest school travel itineraries for students.

Car-free day Car-free day

Almada carries out a Car-Free Day 2015 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
A 100 m long street, located at the very heart of the city of Almada, will be closed to traffic during the "Mobility Fest" that will take place on the 19th of September.
