Vaxholm organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2015, taking into account the annual theme.

Invitation to Lunch Walks. Free lecture on Electric cars. Mobility Exhibition at the local library.
Our Car-Free Day takes place Saturday 19th of september.

In Summer 2015 the central part of Hamngatan was blocked for car trafiic under the period of June-August. Several new bicycle parking facilities and sofas where installed as well. These months are the

A new Energy Plan has been decided on of the Municipal Executive Committee. The plan includes goals on municipality vehicles free from emissions of carbon dioxide.

Car-free day Car-free day

Vaxholm carries out a Car-Free Day 2015 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Our Car Free-day will take place on Sat 19th of September. We are expecting more people on a Saturday than on a week-day to join a series of "movement-events" in the central parts of Vaxholm. The main central street and the streets to&from the Mayors Square will be blocked for car traffic this day. Among activities are Free Historical Guided Walking Tour, Dance- & Music-performance, Bike Parade, Walking Parade, Free Open-Air Yoga-Class, Pimp-My-Bike and Waiters Run.
