Brno (City of Brno) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2016, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
• Promotion of public and urban transport – visit of the Central Control Room of the Integrated Transport System of the South Moravian Region. Promotion of the CIVITAS Day – 2MOVE2 project – presentation of a cyclobus and a mobile application for available parking navigation.

• Promotion of carsharing, electric carsharing, electric bicycles and scooters…

• Promotion of physical activities and sports – inline skating around the city, cycling –critical mass ride, walking promotion – “Evening Nordic Walking Tour” in Brno parks.

• Activities to promote injury prevention in traffic and sport focusing on use of reflective materials.

• Discussion and screening of a film “Bikes vs Cars”.

• Photo contest on “city public transport”.

• Breakfast and coffee for bikers on the Car Free Day.

• Promotion of the Traffic Snake Game – international project focusing on children’s ecological travelling to schools.

• Guided show of an electric aircraft developed at the Brno University of Technology and other activities…

Brno (City of Brno) implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

• The City of Brno works on preparation of a strategic document – the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the City of Brno – the aim of which is to implement measures to support sustainable mobility and improve the environment in the city – at present the proposal part is in process.

• The City of Brno has installed LCD screens in municipality buildings, showing information about the current state of pollution in the city.

• The Public Transport Company of the City of Brno has introduced the “SENIOR BUS” service for seniors over 70 and handicapped citizens.

• The Public Transport Company has launched a public CNG fuelling station – support for using ecological vehicles also outside the public transport.

• The City of Brno, in the framework of the State Environmental Fund’s project, implements a campaign titled “Riding for Brno” dedicated to support of sustainable transport modes.
• A large sociological survey focusing on traffic behaviour will take place in autumn 2016.

Car-free day Car-free day

Brno (City of Brno) carries out a Car-Free Day 2016 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
