Limerick City and County Council (Limerick) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2016, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Actions relative to the theme:

Bus in the city
- 'Bus in the City' is the schools programme annual flagship event for European Mobility Week where we team up with schools, An Taisces Green-Schools Travel programme, Bus Eireann and An Garda Siochana to run a series of interactive workshops on Limerick City buses. The purpose of the event is bring students out of the classroom to experience public transport first hand and learn more about the various aspects of public transport. This year we invited schools to apply whereby successful applicants received a tailored route map for their workshop beginning at a bus stop nearest their school. As the bus proceeds along its set route, students are invited to interview the bus conductor, receive talks about the environmental benefits of sustainable travel from Green-Schools and learn more about infrastructural improvements in place as part of the Limerick Smarter Travel Project as they are encountered along the route.

Culture Night 2016
While out and about experiencing the diverse array of arts and cultural activities in Limerick, why not take a few minutes to park up, relax and enjoy a nibble and a natter opposite The Canteen on Mallow Street. This evening will be celebrating café culture at its very best, as well as unveiling the new park and picnic pod or parklet, specifically designed to support sustainable urban communities in our city. This is a collaboration between Limerick Smarter Travel and the School of Architecture at the University of Limerick.

Pedometer Challenge
- Between September 12th and October 9th workers in an around Limerick City will be taking part in the NTA's 9th annual Pedometer Challenge.

Limerick Smarter Travel support and encourage people, within schools, campuses, workplaces, and communities, to plan for and use healthier more sustainable modes of travel such as walking, cycling and shared travel, while actively discouraging unnecessary and single-occupancy car travel where possible.
