Galway City Council carries out a Car-Free Day 2016 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
It is planned to close Middle St from 10 to 4 and to restrict access to Public Transport Only on Forster St, Eyre Square & Eglinton St
