All week
- Ditch your keys programme for those who want to try carsharing/bikesharing/uber/public transportation etc. instead of their own car: they leave the car keys and participate in this experiment.
- Conference about the future of public transportation in Vilnius.
- The short video how sharing gets you further, filmed in the main streets of the city
- Open office day in traffic management centre
- Night ride with roller skates around the city
Permanent measures
Vilnius implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
Traffic calming and access control scheme
Elaboration of new residential areas
Speed reducing in two residential areas of Vilnius making them ZONE 30
Mobility management
Development of travel plans / mobility plans in consultation with local stakeholders
Car-free day
Vilnius carries out a Car-Free Day 2017 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
- The city gives a free public transportation ride on this day as well as encourages commuters to chose other means of transportation.
- Street closure for different activities for people instead of cars.
