Bergen (City of Bergen) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2017, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Bergen is hosting the 2017 UCI Road Cycling World Championships during the European Mobility Week this year. Because of all the restrictions on car use during this period, there will be a strong push for sustainable transport alternatives, especially walking and cycling. There will be campaigns before the week to motivate and help people to get their bikes ready and to prepare for creative and sustainable communting during the event. Every day of the week will be a "car free day", with many main roads and large parts of the city centre closed for cars from 9-19. Cyclists and pedestrians will be rewarded one of the days.

The City will also put up signs and markings for the first 12 out of several hundred planned reserved parking spaces for shared cars on public roads.

Car-free day Car-free day

Bergen (City of Bergen) carries out a Car-Free Day 2017 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Several main roads and large parts of the city centre will be closed for cars every day from 9-19 in the period of 16th to 24th of september 2017. The main Activity on these roads is the 2017 UCI Road Cycling World Championships, but there will also be a lot of different Cultural events taking Place in the car free areas.
