Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
16 September
Closure of the 3rd phase of project Budva Go Green which included pioneering approach to the revitalization of public areas that looks at the "ground floor" of a community - streets, pavements, parks and other public areas - and exploring the possibilities for fostering better interaction among people, as well as the development of a healthier, more social and economically sustainable community. Workshops that were held within this project emphasized the importance of involving citizens of Budva, stakeholders and other users of space in the planning process, gathering ideas about the use of public areas and activating citizens and local stakeholders in the common development of urban projects. The conceptual solutions were presented to the citizens and next phase includes small intervetions selected through active participation of citizens and stakeholders. This projecs is developed and implemented by Municipality of Budva and UNDP.
21 September
Manifestation for children "Mystery walk". Considered as most acceptable for our municipality, taking into account:
a) the manifestation includes the target category of young people whose habits and behavior in transport will significantly influence the future development of the town Budva;
b) the climate conditions and the size of the city, walking is a very convenient way of transportation in our municipality.
Children will be registered in teams of 5 members and will receive a booklet with mysteries which they need to resolve walking through the Old town of Budva, visiting many historical sites in order to get the answers. After answering all the questions they will put their booklets in a box. First three teams whose booklet with right answers is drawn out of the box will receive awards which they can use as alternative modes of transport in the city. Awards are: bicycles, scooters and roller skates.
We had over 600 children involved in 2017.when we organized similar manifestation.
Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The main street in the city center, Mediterranean street will be closed on Friday 21st of September for the manifestation "Mystery walk". We chose this date in order to have mass response and large number of participants which are school age.
