On september 16th it will launch the Social Biking Challenge in our Municipality entitled Thessaloniki West. A joint organisation with the cooperation of the neighbouring Municipalities of Ampelokipi Menemeni and Pavlos Melas. The challenge is based on the BikePrints app, a tracking app for cyclists, already available in Google Play and Apple app stores. The app allows users to track their rides, and to participate in a three-week competition within their city and also with all the other participating cities in Europe. Participants may ride alone, in pairs or in groups, and earn points based on the distance they ride; the points will eventually be converted to prizes. The Social Biking Challenge has three different stages: Individual Stage, Pair Stage and Group Stage
This event will end with the awards ceremony that will be held in the Traffic Education Park on October 16th. The Awards Cerenomy which involves the participation of schools from all 3 municipalities, is a collaboration of our Municipality services and includes the following actions:
• Painting and crafts for children on sustainable mobility. The children will be asked to visualize in paper the sustainable transport mode they prefer to choose for their movements to and from school.
• Getting acquainted with ancient Greek sportτ. An action for the familiarization with the common space
• Safe mobility lessons for pedestrians and bicycle users

Also on September 21st we will organise a joint action with the neighboring municipalities of Pavlos Melas and Ampelokipi Menemeni in the frame of Car Free Day. The action will take place on September 21st and not on 22nd which is the official date of "Car Free Day" due to events organised by the Region of Central Macedonia that will have an impcact in the whole Metropolitan Area of Thessaloniki and therefore it will not be able to organise seperate events that perhaps will cause malfunctions to the Metropolitan City network.

The event organised by the three Municipalities is a bicycle race for the citizens. It will start at 18:00 o clock from Kordelio Evosmos central square with the meeting point for the three bicycle races (one for each Municipality) to have been set at Ampelokipi Menemeni Ex military camp which has been transformed to a park. There several activities will take place (games, music, speeches) for a couple of hours and the end point of the bicycle race will be the Agia Paraskevi square at Menemeni.
