Activities within the week Activities within the week

Tripolis organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2021, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
E-bikes: what they are, what they do, how they help protect the environment. An afternoon session with e-bike exhibition and test-drive in the central square of Tripolis. E-bike experts and manufacturers will present the technical details of e-bikes, explain the benefits, and train participants how to use them.
17 September
Wooden bikes & the environment: the owner of Cocomat who travels across Greece by his environmentally friendly wooden bike will speak to younger generations about ecology, the concept of wooden bikes and what has inspired him to use his bike instead of a car even for professional meetings from one city to the other regardless of the time it might take to reach one place.
18 September
A walk across bigger and smaller streets of the city in collaboration with mobility experts. Following the SUMP consultations and the submission of project proposals for complete pedestrianisation of the central public square Ag. Vasilis and green spots in the city, citizens will find out what changes in the city mobility and record what more needs to be done so that the roads are citizen-friendly for everybody. The walk will lead to the concert by the local marching band.
19 September
A bike tour around the historical sites of the city with the support of the bike sports team AEK Tripolis. In the frame of the celebrations for 200 years since the Greek Independence, citizens will explore their city and famous but also unknown historical sites of interest with the use of their bike.
20 September
First-aid lessons by the Hellenic Red Cross in case of driving accidents. How to protect others and one’s self in case of driving accidents (car; motorbike; bike) until emergency professionals arrive on the spot. Citizens will learn how they can potentially save a life by applying basic simple techniques.
21 September
E-scooters; e-skateboards; roller skates: fancy and fun but what about traffic rules? Educational activity with experts from the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Young generations use these alternative means of transport more and more but they lack basic knowledge of traffic rules which apply not only to cars and motorbikes. The session will teach them how to navigate in the city safely.
22 September
Mobility across the centuries. A photo exhibition in the central square of Tripolis with material from the very early ages of humankind about ways of mobility. On September, 22 Tripolis celebrates its liberation and in the frame of the festivities for 200 years from the Greek Independence, a concert will take place in the evening. The photo exhibition will lead the way toward the climax of festivities with a kind of travelogue on how we literally, by means of transport, reached 2021.
