Apart from the Bicycle Festival, a bicycle tour named “Each Pedal is a Sapling” will be organized. The tour will start in front of our municipality building in Fatih neighborhood and will end in a tree planting area in Mimaroba neighborhood. Our mayor, municipal staff, citizens and bicycle clubs will cycle together for approximately 10 km to reach the area. Then, they will plant saplings in order to draw attention to forest fires that occured recently in our country. As is known to all, the forest fires that started in Antalya on July 28, 2021 spread to many cities and caused serious damage. 299 forest fires in 49 provinces were completely under control as of August 12, 2021, with the support of personnel and vehicles from many countries, including Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Russia, Spain, Croatia, Qatar and Iran. During this time, 8 people lost their lives, hundreds of thousands of hectares of forests and settlements were turned to ashes and thousands of animals perished. We dedicate our “Every Pedal is a Sapling” event to all living creatures we have lost and to countries that contribute to world peace by showing their support.
