Egaleo organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2022, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
ELECTRIC BICYCLE RENTAL
The Municipality will provide electric bicycles which can be used by all citizens throughout the week for their transportation within the Municipality. From the first day, a rental point will be set up in the entrance of Baroutadiko Grove, a most frequently visited area of the Municipality, where citizens can schedule an appointment to rent a bicycle and receive information about the context of European Mobility Week and its upcoming activities. To ensure that bicycles are available to as many citizens as possible, there will be a fixed rental time according to their demand. Bicycles will remain available for rent throughout the week from 10:00 until 14:00 and from 17:00 until 22:00.

WALKING AND CYCLING FOR THE ELDERLY
In the context of the European mobility week, in addition to reducing the environmental stigma, the concept of movement is also highlighted. For this reason, there will be a bike ride as well as a walk for the elderly fellow citizens of the municipality of Egaleo. This coordinated action will be carried out in collaboration with Open Protection Centers for the Elderly in the area, but also under the guidance of public officials, in order to strengthen both sustainable mobility and to consolidate the idea of the movement. This action will take place at 10:00 a.m in Baroutadiko Grove.

OPEN RYTHMIC GYMNASTICS CLASS
At the center of this year's European mobility week is the movement of citizens to get more guaranteed in sports and in parallel to their physical movement. Therefore, many activities with a sporting content will take place in this year's project. One of them is the open rhythmic gymnastics class, which will be held by the most suitable person, who is the Olympian athlete, Eva Christodoulou.
There will be a small reference to the sport and its history through the eyes of a conspicuous athlete and then some simple sports movements will be taught with and without the use of rhythmic gymnastics equipment. This action will take place from 18:00 to 20:00.

HISTORICAL WALK OF ASIA MINOR IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF EGALEO
In order to highlight the cultural wealth of the culture of Asia Minor, which flourishes in the Municipality of Egaleo, a historical walk will be implemented in places of cultural interest throughout the city. In collaboration with the Museum of Asia Minor Culture of the Municipality of Egaleo, a free tour will be planned for all interested citizens in order to discover the culture of Asia Minor hidden in the streets of Egaleo.
The tour will be conducted exclusively on foot, so that participants have the time and peace to enjoy and learn about the cultural side of the Municipality of Egaleo, while enjoying the benefits that walking can have on both humans and the environment.

MUSIC AND DANCE PERFORMANCE OF THE POLISH SCHOOL
The multicultural municipality of Εgaleo hosts a Polish school in the 1st primary school. Twice a week, during times when the school is not in use, Polish lessons are provided to children of elementary to high school age, so that they can keep in touch with their roots.
Their contribution to the European mobility week will be the presentation of dances, costumes and songs of their country. More specifically, they will act as boosters in the context of promoting physical mobility and movement. Their performance will be given in the forecourt of the museum and it will last from 12:00 till 13:00.

The Municipality will make available an electric car, which can be used by citizens over the age of 18, who have a driving license, which will be shown to the authorities. The rental point will be located at the entrance of Baroutadiko Grove, where citizens can make an appointment to rent the car as well as be informed about the context of the European Mobility Week and the following week's activities. To ensure that the car is available to as many citizens as possible, there will be a fixed rental time depending on its demand. The car will remain available to rent for the weekend from 17:00 till 22:00.

The town hall of Εgaleo and specifically the Department of Development, Planning & Transparency has been involved over the years with many European projects. One of them is the TransformAr, the topic of which will be presented in an one-hour speech. A parallel reference will be made to the deliverables of the project as well as to the future obligations of the Municipality and the consortium in general.
The topic of the specific European project includes demonstrating solutions and pathways deemed necessary for climate and social resilience. The speech will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 18:00 from National Center of Scientific Research "Demokritos”.

The Municipality of Egaleo aspires to create activities that will lead to a better quality of life for citizens, improving their physical and mental health and urging them to combine physical activity with intramunicipal mobility. At the center of this year's European mobility week is the movement of citizens to get more guaranteed in sports and in parallel to their physical movement. Therefore, many activities with a sporting content will take place in this year's project. However, there are also people with disabilities, who are confronted every day with mobility difficulties.
In order to avoid the separation of citizens, an open fencing course will be held aimed at people with disabilities. The goal is to prove that any malfunction cannot be an obstacle to exercise, but at the same time, the rest of the citizens also understand the difficulties faced by some of our fellow human beings. This action will start at 11:00 and it will end at 13:00.

LOST TREASURE GAME FOR CHILDREN & TEENAGERS
Another fun activity that will take place within the framework of the European Mobility Week and will mainly concern children and young people, is the lost treasure game. With the support and supervision of the scouts of Egaleo, the game will take place in the Baroutadiko Grove. Municipal staff will hide some objects in the park, which will offer to whoever finds them a sponsored gift. The process will involve a specific age group and the gifts are adjusted accordingly. The winners will be up to 3 people and the gifts will be distributed according to the priority of finding the items. The action will take place from 11:00 till 13:00 but it will end even earlier if the items will be found.

AWARENESS WORKSHOPS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (IASIS)
Another activity that will be implemented in the framework of the European Mobility Week will be a workshop dedicated to familiarizing the citizens of the Municipality of Egaleo with the daily difficulties faced by people with disabilities when traversing the city. There are many factors that prevent people with mobility disabilities when walking in a city (eg. cars that block the passage of the blind, trees and small sidewalks that make it difficult for people with disabilities to move).
With this workshop, participants will experience the needs of people with disabilities and realize the importance of establishing city accessibility. Reduced car use is directly linked to more space in the city for people with disabilities, which is another aspect that the laboratory aims to highlight.

The guiding line of this European Week is the children, as they are the future. Consequently, another experiential workshop will take shape during this European Mobility Week aiming at the promotion of sports. In more detail, this action will be an experiential workshop for empowering children, so that they understand the positive aspects of sports and by extension mobility's. Τhrough interactive and group games and activities, the purpose of the whole action will be easily understood. This workshop will also strengthen the children's mental relaxation. The action will take place at Baroutadiko Grove from 18:00 till 20:00.

CENTER OF FOLK CULTURE OF EGALEO
CENTER OF FOLK CULTURE OF EGALEO
For this year, the city of Egaleo decided to combine the concept of movement and mobility and to somehow identify them. Therefore, in adittion to the sports activities, it included some events in the project of the European Mobility Week. The municipality collaborates with the Center of folk culture that focuses on Asia Minor dances and culture, which they will present in Botsari, honoring a large number of people who belong to this diverse group. Those who attend will be able to have fun with the special musical nuances and get to know a new culture. The music and dance event will take place on Botsari Street in Egaleo from 20:00.

The movement of citizens to become more confident in sports and even in their physical interaction is core to this week's mobility. As a result, several athletic events is held in this year's plan. One of them is the open basket coaching.
Further than the advertising of mobility, fundamental components will be taught to strengthen bonds, allowing common social concerns such as environment protection to be addressed. There will be a brief introduction to the sport and its background, followed by guidance in some basic sports moves. The athletic action will take place in Botsari at 19:00.

CRETAN ASSOCIATION EGALEO "THE CRETAN RENAISSANCE"
The municipality of Egaleo, within the framework of European Mobility Week 2022, wanted to combine the concepts of mobility and movement. As a result, in relation to sporting events, it also included a few dancing events in the project. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Cretan sounds, enjoy Cretan dances and learn about the representative cultural association. The music and dance event will take place on Botsari Street in Egaleo from 20:00.
