In many European cities, a considerable proportion of public transport systems remain inaccessible to people with disabilities. The Vitatiim association in the Estonian city of Narva hosted an event to create a map of the city that will indicate the transport facilities and institutions that are accessible for disabled citizens.
Sustainable mobility is more than just the reduction of emissions and the improvement of air quality, it should also promote a more inclusive environment. The creation of the map will help citizens with disabilities to identify the most convenient and comfortable ways to use public transport, without dealing with unpleasant situations in the last moment. Moreover, improving the accessibility of transport systems would also have economic benefits, given the growing number of users. These actions were presented during the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK and World Car Free Day on 22 September.
